Dr. Glazer Releases Halloween Letter for Elementary Parents

October 6, 2017

Dear Nutley Elementary Parents,

I wanted to take a moment and write to you today as we approach Halloween. Below, I have detailed the plan for the day for all Nutley elementary schools.

All students, in grades K-6, will be dismissed at 12:30pm. No lunch will be served on this day. Students have the option to return to their classrooms at 2:00pm, in costume, for a parade and party.

We ask that parents do not send in food or goodie bags containing food. The class parents and teachers will organize treats, from a pre-approved list of party foods (attached).

At 2:45pm, all elementary schools will have an outdoor parade, weather permitting. Parents, grandparents, and siblings of students are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the parade outdoors, but will not be permitted into the schools and/or classrooms. After the parade has finished, students will report to their classrooms for a regular 3:20pm dismissal.

I would also like to offer some information regarding Halloween costumes. Costumes cannot contain weapons or anything which may be perceived as a weapon.  There cannot be any swords, guns, sticks, knives, or grenades as part of a costume or any hand-held props. Masks, of any kind, are also not permitted.

I am hopeful all our students, families and staff have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.

Sincerely,

Dr. Julie Glazer

Superintendent of Schools
